With the shift from Verona to Venice in 1405, a long period of pro-sperity and wealth began for our city, but not without its shadows and obvious negative consequences. Above all, however, an atmo-sphere brimming with luxury, elegance, and delight prevailed that gives Verona an aura of wealth which has never been matched by any other city on the Venetian mainland. The driving force of Verona in this triumphant journey towards timeless beauty was the great ar-chitectural genius Michele Sammicheli “highly-esteemed engineer”.
